BACDA USA Takes Health Campaign To Nyandong, Bakolle

The members of the Bakossi Cultural and Development Association, BACDA, USA chapter, are preoccupied with the healthcare of their kin and kith back home.

With focus in Western Bakossi, this time, a team of health personnel and members of BACDA USA and their Cameroonian counterparts took variety of medications to the people of Nyandong and Bakolle.

According to the BACDA USA Health Committee Chairperson, NHON James Mbide, their interest is to bring healthcare to the door steps of their people. “We carried out consultations and distribution of drugs to patients free of charge in Nyandong and Bakolle,” he said.

In the various stopovers, Mbide advised the people to avoid excessive alcohol drinking and unprotected sexual activities so as to be HIV/AIDS-free.

Before the Nyandong and Bakolle health campaigns, BACDA USA, had earlier sponsored the Mobile Clinic campaigns that covered all the Health Areas of the Tombel and Bangem Health Districts in June and October 2007, the Cataract Surgery Program in Bangem and Tombel District Hospitals in July 2009, free medical consultations prior to the All Bakossi Conference, ABC, that held in Bangem and Tombel in November 2009 and 2011 respectively and the recently conducted baseline survey to identify patients suffering from epilepsy in Bulutu and the  neighbouring villages.

At the close of the exercise, the traditional rulers of Nyandong I, Divine Ngalame, Nyandong II, Sylvester Nseme and Alfred Nkede of Bakolle expressed happiness for the laudable actions from BACDA USA Chapter and all who contributed to make the campaign a huge success, citing the relentless support from the Secretary General of the Western Bakossi Development Association, WEBDA, Alphonse Ngalame.

Amongst the ten-man team that pursued the health campaigns in Nyandong and Bakolle were two Medical Doctors; Dr. Pascal Fogang, the Chief of Centre for the Integrated Health Centre in Nyandong and Dr. Gilbert Nzume, the Chief of Bureau Health, representing the District Medical Officer for Konye Health District, two nurses from Konye District Hospital, the Pharmacy Attendant in Nyandong, the WEBDA Secretary General, Alphonse NGALAME and BACDA USA Health Event Coordinator Mrs. Mercy Ngone Abwe.
