The new executive committee of Sasse Old Boys Association, SOBA, the alumni association of legendary Cameroonian college, St. Joseph College, Sasse, Buea, headed by Prof Ephraim Ndeh Ngwafor, has taken a commitment to contribute to the greatness of that Ivy League institution.

At an official handing-over ceremony in Sasse College campus, Saturday, September 14 2013 after the hotly contested elections of Saturday, August 10 2013, the Prof. George Dopgima Nyamndi led team handed over to that of Prof. Ephraim Ndeh Ngwafor in a convivial atmosphere.

Ngwafor in his acceptance speech said his executive will contribute to make Sasse College great and ensure that students who will leave from the college during his tenure fit properly in the Cameroonian society and beyond.

He told the Principal of the college, the President of Parents, Teachers Association, PTA of the college, Raphael Tchomnou Ngantchop, the Buea Diocesan Catholic Education Secretary, Rev. Fr Alexander Sob and the SOBANS present that he will love to see a common thread of confidence reign amongst all in the SOBAN family. “Our plans of action include a state-of-the-art website to bring all ex-students together and continue from where our predecessors ended. Let SOBANS continue to have confidence in each other and get themselves roped to their respective chapters across the world,” the Professor of Law noted.

According to Ngwafor, there is no confrontation within the SOBA ranks, saying his executive bureau will hold the fort positively and all what is being written on the internet has no consequence on the association. “It is only an opportunity for all of us to get better. We will certainly fall, but we will not stay on the ground,” he added.

The Buea Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev.Fr Sob praised the out gone executive members of SOBA, noting that they were committed in their work and wished same for the incoming executive.

While Fr. Sob entreated SOBANS to look at their vision for the school and forget about the challenges, the Principal, Rev.Fr Peter Nouck had some expectations; “They should forge ahead from where the former ended, I see their enthusiasm and I foresee SOBA getting to greater heights.

He prayed SOBA to improve on the accommodation facilities of the college. “Everybody wants the child to come to Sasse College, but we do not have space to take all of them. If that is done, we will give opportunities for more kids to have the great experience out here,” he said.
PTA Chair of Sasse College since 2010, Raphael Ngantchop said his dream for Sasse College will come to fruition with the support from SOBA and the Proprietor of the College, Mgr. Immanuel Bushu, Bishop of Buea Diocese. “We are on the right track with this new executive by our side. They have my support and that of all the parents of Sasse College,” he mentioned.

At a courtesy call to the Bishop of Buea, Ngwafor indicated he has come with his team to receive his blessings, advice and strengthen confidence between SOBA and the Proprietor of the college. “My Lord, you can count on us and we have taken the commitment to succeed,” he said.

Mgr. Bushu told the new executive of SOBA their assignment is a great one, which entail working for all SOBANS across the world. He will raise the issue of the poor road network that leads users into the college campus and some of the buildings that live much to be desired. “The dormitories have to be refurbished and the essence to permanently keep the campus clean. If these are done, we will continuously make the college the pacesetter,” the Prelate said
