Cameroon’s First Lady Donates to Vulnerable Persons

Some 65 orphanages and associations from the 10 regions of Cameroon have benefited from the gratuity of First Lady of the Republic, Mrs Chantal Biya. Some of these beneficiaries include Garden for Education Orphanage in Bamenda, North West Region, WUDAVU de Maroua from the North Region and Bulu Blind Center from Buea, South West Region. The event took place at the Chantal Biya Foundation premise where the Secretary General of the foundation represented the First Lady.

In an address to the recipients, Mrs Habisou mentioned that it was for the 8th time that the First Lady was carrying on such humanitarian acts. She also made known to the vulnerable persons that the first lady will always be available to support them.

The evening began with the singing of Cameroon national anthem and followed by the handing over of gifts to the beneficiaries. Some of the gifts included wheel chairs, drugs, and school materials like books, pens, rulers, pencils; even food items like rice, salt, milk and groundnuts.

Present at the ceremony was the Minister of Social Affairs, Catherine Bakangbock, who expressed her gratitude for the national solidarity spirit of the First Lady. She added that, the First Lady’s gesture was timely as it will go a long way to assist vulnerable persons during this period of Back-to-school. She also called on the beneficiaries to use the gifts judiciously so that the purpose for the gifts will be met.

the beneficiaries of the donation, expressed happiness over the gifts received. He ended up praying for GOD to bless Mrs Chantal Biya, and that God gives her long life to continue her mission on earth.

Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Basic Education, Hadjidja Youssouf and Mayor of Yaoundé deuxiém, Luc Assamba.

The event was spiced with a series of cultural interludes from music artists like Richard Amougou, Silva Rose, and the Chantal Biya Foundation Choir. The comedian Gegege International presented a sketch which advised the representatives to make sure the gifts are handed to the vulnerable persons.
