After the Tuesday, October 28 2014 strike actions from the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, backing out from an official reception prepared for them by the government of Cameroon via the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, there is some serenity now after long hours of negotiations. The Lionesses will each receive FCFA 9.8 Million being their total bonuses for reaching at the final of the Female AFCON 2014 in Windhoek, Namibia.
The quarrel erupted over non-payment of their respective bonuses from the just ended Female AFCON 2014 in Windhoek, Namibia. The 23 players that made up the squad of the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon to the Namibian Campaign will now go home each with the sum of FCFA 9.8 Million. This is the outcome of a tri-partite meeting that took place in-camera Wednesday, October 29 2014 at the Yaoundé Multipurpose sports complex, involving the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, authorities of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT and the delegation of the Lionesses that made the trip to Namibia.
The Lionesses arrived at this stage of the negotiations after they had addressed separate letters of complaint to their plight to the Prime Minister of Cameroon, Philemon Yang and the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. The letters were signed by team captain; Christine Manie and assistant captain, Gabrielle Onguene. The Lionesses had earlier turned down FCFA 5.4 Million as the money proposed to them on Monday, October 27 2014.
The Lionesses will also receive FCFA 500,000 each from a petroleum company in Cameroon that made a promise of the aforementioned sum of money if they qualify for the final of AFCON 2014 in Namibia.
