CAMEROON – TUNISIA : Eto’o Features on List of 25

Walter Wilson Nana
Buea, Cameroon.

Volker Finke, the coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has made public the list of players to tackle the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia come Sunday, October 13 2013 in Rades, Tunisia. Leading the list of seven attackers shortlisted for that encounter is the skipper of the Lions, Samuel Fils Eto’o, who after the last Group I game against Libya in Yaoundé, September 8 2013, allegedly, told his teammates in the dressing room, he was quitting the Lions’ den to concentrate on his international career with Chelsea FC of England.
Since then, observers of Cameroon football and Samuel Fils Eto’o have been asking many questions on the motivation of such a decision from Eto’o and how realistic it was?

Others noted that Eto’o was going to be back in the Lions’ den, following similar situations from other players of repute, who announced their departure from their respective national teams, but came back to their decision.

While other opinions wished that Eto’o should stay with his decision, some groups and associations in Cameroon have being making public overtures for Eto’o to renounce his decision and get back to the Lions’ fold.
